Library Media Center

Grange Elementary Library Media Center welcomes all students, K-5, and provides instruction in many areas.  Boys and girls learn how to locate books and information using “Library Pro Explorer,” a card catalogue software program.  They learn about the organization of the library, different kinds of books, (fiction, nonfiction, reference, etc.), as well as various genres of literature, authors, and illustrators.  Children enjoy read-alouds and are encouraged to check out books each week, take good care of them, and return them on time.  “Strive for 25,” a program which Grange supports, challenges students to read 25 books during the school year.  Record-keeping sheets are kept in folders in the library media center for those in grades 2-5.  Mrs. Dobihal can be found in the library on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.  Mrs. Grasso is on duty Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Be sure to stop in during American Education Week, November 13 – 17, to purchase some great books at the book fair.

Library Lab

Computer Lab

Grange Elementary’s computer lab contains 28 computers for student use.  During the year, classes in grades K-5 will have a scheduled computer lesson every other week.  Software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Kid Pix Deluxe 3, Inspiration, and Kidspiration will be used to teach or reinforce content directly related to classroom curriculum.  Learning to locate information on the internet using student search engines and online databases and resources like World Book, BrainPop,  SIRS Discoverer, and America the Beautiful will be emphasized.  Mrs. Grasso is the part-time technology integration teacher.

Strive for 25!

Students at Grange Elementary are striving to reach the goal of reading 25 books this school year. Students in grades 2-5 are listing book titles they have read on record-keeping sheets in library class. Those who achieve this goal will earn a certificate and have their pictures displayed on the "r-Readers Wall of Fame." Please encourage your child to read for pleasure, for information, and to become better readers.
